Developing reading habits, singing, and recitation is emphasised. Developing questioning skills – about characters, places, sequence of events, etc. based on allotted reading materials – is focused upon.
Strengthening listening skills and how students respond or react to various situations is also emphasised. Introducing select types of grammar – pronoun, adjectives, prepositions – is included at this stage.
Identifying number-naming and number-writing patterns is encouraged as well as reading and writing numbers up to 99. Addition and subtraction are also practised.
